A professor once asked us
“Do you believe in love?”
That thing you can’t grasp
or hold in your hand.
That faith we seem to have
in the meant-to-be’s
in the for-the-better’s
in the bond with a mother
in the forever and ever

I think what he meant
was: do you believe in the
intangible
unexplainable,
the things that don’t give
you answers
or proof?
The things that confuse you
but comfort you
with belief in the future.

Do you believe in truth,
fate,
friendship,
hate,
karma,
life,
or hope?

What he was really asking was:
Do you believe in
death,
angels,
heaven,
life,
prayer;
Do you believe in God?
